The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique
Today we introduce you to the 5-4-3-2-1 technique. This is a grounding exercise used to help individuals return to the present moment by focusing on their physical senses. This practice can help shift attention away from the emotionally charged and often self-referential loops associated with the default mode network (DMN), a network in the brain active during mind-wandering, rumination, and self-focused thoughts.
